American Periodical Series Online – NEW

American Periodicals Series Online (APS Online) includes digitized images of the pages of American magazines and journals published from colonial days to the dawn of the 20th century. Titles include Benjamin Franklin’s General Magazine and America’s first scientific journal, Medical Repository; popular magazines such as Vanity Fair, Harper’s Bazaar and Ladies’ Home Journal; regional and niche publications; and groundbreaking journals like The Dial, Puck, and McClure’s.

It includes: 89 journals published 1740-1800; 118 journals published during the Civil War; and many others.

This full-text database has received glowing reviews from various staff members in the American Wing.

APS online can be searched alone or in conjunction with the New York Times Historical Newspapers.
