Art Sales Catalogues online: New Subscription

Watson Library is pleased to announce a new subscription resource, Art Sales Catalogues online. We believe this to be an important addition to our databases covering auction sales and provenance research.

This resource is an extension of Lugt’s Repertoire online. It provides online access to many digitized catalogs that are referred to in Lugt, covering European and American auctions from 1600-1900. As of June of this year, 27,656 catalogs have been digitized.

The Répertoire des Catalogues de Ventes Publiques by Frits Lugt is one of the most widely consulted art historical reference works. Now, in addition to the entries describing the catalogs, many entire catalogs can be viewed online.
