Art Sales Index now Free
Art Sales Index, long a subscription resource of the Watson Library, has recently become a free internet resource, available with a one-time registration (you create a user name and password) at http://www.artinfo.com/artsalesindex. The link to Art Sales Index can be found in WATSONLINE and in Databases A-Z on this web page.
Art Sales Index has over 3.5 million international auction results for Fine Art sales. There are over 200,000 artist records and more than 500 auction houses are included. Dates of coverage are from about 1970 to the present with retrospective additions of Sotheby’s and Christie’s catalogs from the 1920’s. The database now includes several hundred thousand images.
