Les Ballets suédois dans l’art contemporain

Les Ballets suédois dans l’art contemporain

Paris: Editions du Trianon, 1931.

Watson Library Special Collections: GV1671.B3 1931

Under the direction of Rolf de Maré (1888–1964), the Ballets suédois ensemble presented avant-garde dance performances from 1920–1925.

Fernand Léger (1881–1955) designed the covers for this limited edition compendium, which includes fourteen pochoirs, sixty-four heliogravures, and contributions by Luigi Pirandello, Jean Cocteau, and Frances Picabia.  The colorful pochoirs feature costume design by Léonard Tsugouharu Foujita (1886–1968) and set designs by Léger and Giorgio de Chirico (1888–1978).
