New Features for E-Journals

Watson Library now offers remote access to almost 4,000 online journals.  For example, if you’re at home and you want to see an article in Burlington Magazine or African Arts, you can select that periodical from the E-Journals A-Z list on the Watson Library Website at http://libmma.org/portal/, or search for it in WATSONLINE.  There is no need to search for these titles in databases such as JSTOR or Art Index first. From your remote location you will be asked to log in to your library account.  On the E-journals A-Z list, periodicals that are not available remotely are designated in red as “On-site use only”.

Another new feature is that more than 600 e-journals with RSS feeds are identified in the E-Journals A-Z list with the link “RSS Feed of Current Issue”.  An RSS feed is a free subscription that will automatically deliver to you contents of newly published issues, often with links to full text articles.  For instance, you can get a feed of the current issue of Acta archaeologica or October.

At the top of the e-journals page, we now have a link to the New E-Journals list, a WATSONLINE list of the new titles in our e-journals collection.  The list refreshes around the middle of every month and the number of new titles will vary.

Please contact the Reference Desk (x2225) if you have any questions.  For more information on RSS feeds, see Watson Library’s Web 2.0 presentation page on RSS: http://libmma.org/web20/rss-2/.
