Online Tools for Auction Research

Description: Whether a newcomer to the world of auctions or an advanced researcher, this class will help you improve your auction research skills using several online tools.  We will cover auction indexes such as ArtNet, Art Sales Index, and AskArt, and full-text sources such as Art Sales Catalogues Online (Lugt Full-text) and ArtFact Pro.  We will also show you efficient ways to harness Watson Library’s rich collection of auction catalogs using Watsonline.  In addition, you will learn how to use SCIPIO in its new FirstSearch interface.  A brief look at auction house Web sites and the catalogs of European libraries with auction collections will also be provided.

Class Level: Intermediate – I have some familiarity with the Watson Library and am looking for resources beyond the basics.
