Antonio Ratti Textile Center

Antonio Ratti Textile Center

The Ratti Textile Center Library contains approximately 3,500 non-circulating books and 50 periodicals devoted to the history, science, and technical study of textiles. The Museum’s textile collection, numbering more than 36,000 objects (excluding the Costume Institute’s holdings), is remarkably diverse and ranges in date from 3000 B.C. to the present. Basic descriptive information and images of the collection have been added to an image database that is accessible to the public in the Center’s reading area.

Hours and Access
The library is open to the public without an appointment, but one should telephone in advance to schedule use of the database. Most of the holdings of the library are cataloged in WATSONLINE, the Museum libraries’ online catalog.
