Using Watson Library materials

All Watson materials must be handled with care. Items from the Book Cage must be consulted at the glass-topped table nearest the Circulation Desk. If you wish to use materials for more than one day, you may ask a Circulation staff member to put them on Reserve. The Reserve shelves are in the Reading Room and materials are held there for two weeks. You must return all materials to the pick-up/return window. Watson materials may not leave the Museum.

If you have been approved for checkout privileges:

You may check out books for use in the Museum only. The checkout period is one year (or until your ID expires) and you may renew up to four times. You are responsible for the materials, so please handle them with care. If another staff member requests material checked out to you, we will ask you to make it available. No item may leave the library without being checked out by Circulation staff. Please note that periodicals, auction catalogs and material from our Book Cage do not circulate.

If you have not been approved for checkout privileges:

You are permitted to use materials in the library only; you may place materials on reserve for up to two weeks.

If you have stacks privileges, you may retrieve materials yourself from the stacks and use them in the library. If you do not have stacks privileges, you must ask for materials to be paged from the stacks. Library staff pages materials Tuesday-Friday from 10:00am-4:00pm.
