Google Translate is not just useful when cataloging Turkish titles, but also great for communicating with our international clientele. A frustrated patron needed help today but was unable to communicate her frustrations to me fully because of a language barrier. Using Google Translate allowed her to ask me questions and allowed me to respond in a language she could understand, effectively turning a tense situation around. My suggestion is to be extra cautious if you find yourself needing to do this:
-Some languages are better than others; French and Spanish translate very well.
-Keep the text short as longer sentences will increase the probability of poor translation.
-use extremely polite expressions because you never know how something will be translated from English.
